Little Pottery Macau

Macau-inspired handmade ceramics studio, with quirky charm flaws in soul

Little Pottery is a Macau-inspired ceramic studio hideout in Hengqin. After 5 years learning ceramics in Macau, I created this cozy space to craft unique, handmade pieces with playful imperfections—that’s where the magic lives! My early "messy-but-bold" works (even my teacher side-eyed them!) taught me: flaws make treasures.

Clay fights back—centering, pulling, trimming, glazing, firing… every step can go wrong! But that’s why I’m hooked: fail, learn, repeat!

As a lover of China’s pottery heritage, I hope to share this ancient art with younger generations. Discover Macau’s creative spirit in every quirky art piece!

When did you start creating? Was there a specific moment or inspiration that led you to it?

Since childhood, I’ve had a deep fondness for handmade crafts and was always the most diligent student in art class. Even before discovering pottery, I earned pocket money by selling dreamcatchers I crafted myself. During the pandemic in 2019, when the world came to a sudden standstill, a friend invited me to try pottery together. This experience sparked a passion that has only grown stronger over time—I’ve been practicing relentlessly ever since. In 2021, I founded my pottery brand Little Pottery 小陶氣, which be a crowd favourite. For this, I am deeply grateful to my friends, my followers, my family and everything. For this, my clay journey continues with even more captivating creations in the kiln. Stay tuned!

What was the biggest challenge you faced in your creative journey, and how did you overcome it?

There exists a fundamental distinction between art and commercial products. Artistic creations may not necessarily resonate with popular taste, whereas commodities are designed for quantifiable outcomes and broader audience appeal. Personally, I strive to preserve the artistic integrity of my work by resisting excessive commercialization. This deliberate choice, however, creates an inherent paradox - the very inability to mass-produce becomes my greatest creative dilemma.
