About the Author: Chang You-ling, born in Taiwan in 1999, graduated from the Master’s program in Art Design at the National Taiwan University of the Arts in 2025, majoring in ceramics. I am fascinated by the interaction between the clay and the maker when shaping, as well as the warm luster of ceramics. With the development of industry, the same products and abundant materials fill every corner of life, but the original intention of loving and cherishing things and being meticulous in roughness is missing. Jiqi uses hand-throwing, pressing and kneading techniques to make pottery. Every step of the production process is handled carefully, allowing people to feel the warmth and profound cultural connotations of the ceramic objects when using them.
Cherry Cup
The cup is made by hand-throwing. When the body is just pulled and still soft, the cherry kneaded with colored clay is pressed and inlaid. The handle and the bottom echo each other, and the wave shape has an anti-slip effect. Each cup is unique, round, fresh and sparkling.
