I'm Ally, and my art reflects my philosophy: do what you love. That's why my path led me to multi-media – I love a lot of things! Vibrant colors and everyday inspiration fuel my journey, which is more about the delightful detours than a final destination. Currently, I'm transforming forgotten lamps into unique art, hand-painting shades with protective eyes and vibrant florals. I hope you enjoy my work and the journey it takes me on!

When did you start creating? Was there a specific moment or inspiration that led you to it?
I've been creating for as long as I can remember, but my artistic journey truly began to take shape in high school with hair styling. This led to a fascination with texture and form, pushing me into sculpting and crafting. From there, I explored painting, then special effects makeup, and art department work. My path has been one of constant evolution, with each medium building upon the last.
What emotions, messages, or themes do you hope to convey through your work?
I've always been drawn to experimenting, which is how I found my current focus on 'eyes of protection' in my paintings and lamp art. It's a way for me to create a sense of calm and safety in a world that often feels overwhelming.
What materials, tools, or techniques do you use, and why did you choose them?
When it comes to materials, I'm driven by texture, transformation. It might seem simple, but paper has incredible versatility. There was a period where I focused solely on paper, creating large-scale floral backdrops. I discovered the power of layering, shaping, and manipulating paper to create stunning three-dimensional forms. That experience taught me so much about texture and form. And for the lamps, each lamp is a unique canvas, an opportunity to explore how materials can completely transform its character. I also love playing with bulb colors to create different effects!
What was the biggest challenge you faced in your creative journey, and how did you overcome it?
Shipping delicate, large-scale paper flowers posed a significant logistical challenge.
The anxiety of handing off handcrafted work, unsure of its safe arrival, was always present. But more than anything, my focus was on the client's satisfaction. Despite the difficulties of shipping giant boxes, every flower found a great home, and the positive feedback from nurseries, events, and runways confirmed that my efforts were worthwhile.
Do you remember your first sale? How did it feel?
I felt a sense of validation. As an artist, you pour your heart into your work, and that first sale felt like confirmation that I was on the right path. It was also a bit of relief, knowing that someone appreciated what I created.
Has a customer ever shared a special story or reason for purchasing your work?
Absolutely! My Etsy buyers have shared so many wonderful stories. I've received photos and glowing reviews, seeing my pieces find their place in homes and events. One of the most incredible experiences was when my work was featured in a runway designer's fashion show. Seeing my creations as a runway backdrop was a dream come true!
Is there a particular piece or product that customers seem to love the most? What makes it special?
I would say my paper flowers were at that time in my journey while creating them. Now, my hand-painted lamps are the items clients seem to love the most. What makes them special is that they're not just decorations or corner lamps. They're intended to be sources of light in every sense – illuminating spaces while also bringing comfort and positive energy, creating a sanctuary at home.
What are your future plans? What do you hope to achieve through your creative business?
My future plans involve building a stronger community through more multi-media workshops. I love connecting with other creatives and sharing my knowledge.
Creatively, I'm focused on exploring the possibilities within my lamp series, allowing that to naturally evolve until my next inspiration takes hold.
Are you working on any exciting new projects or collections?
Yes, I have several projects lined up, primarily focused on developing new and engaging creative workshops. I'm exploring different multi-media techniques and designing workshops that will inspire participants to discover their own creative potential.
